Ali Gholi Agha bathhouse with a number of other historical public places, like the mosque, bazaar, etc, in this area are all historical monuments from Safavi Dynasty . Ali Gholi Agha himself was one of the high rank people working for the last two kings of the Dynasty, called Shah Soltan Hossein and Shah Soleyman .
Two inscriptions from the year 1112 AH in Ali Gholi Agha mosque and especially the number 1125 at the end of the deed of endowment shows that this monument is of the ones of the first half of the 12 th century AH .
This monument consists of a big and a small bathhouse . Both of these bath, like other Iranian traditional bathhouse, have two main parts which are SARBINEH ( the dressing room ) and GARMKHANEH ( the hot bathing room ) . There is, of course, one other section in the big bath which is called CHALHOZE ( the swimming pool ) .
The plan of these two bathhouse has been such carefully designed the Sarbinehs are wall to wall neighbor, and so the Garmkhanehs . This neighborhood of the parts, which have the same temperature, would help to reduce the heat waste .
All different parts in the bathhouse have proper geometrical bases . Sarbineh is a quite big room with an octagonal base, which has a smaller octagon in it . The platforms all around Sarbineh were the places to change clothes and relaxing . Spaces under these platforms were the ones to put shoes inside . There are four fountains around Sarbineh, which people used to wash their feet inside before entering the main bathing room .
Eight stone made pillars are under the Sarbineh’s central dome . some lower ceiling cover the side platforms, too . Sarbineh is connected to Garmkhaneh by a passage which is called MIANDAR .
These Miandars were built with some breaks in them ( indirect ways ) .
This type of buildings is good for two reason . First, it would reduce the heat waste; second, it avoids outsiders watch inside the bath .
The big bathhouse’s Garmkhaneh is a big room with a rectangular base which is divided into different parts by some stone made pillars . On the center of the Garmkhaneh, there is a big dome on four stone made pillars . There are four other pillars in Garmkhaneh, which make the smaller bathing rooms all around . The entrance to KHAZINEH ( final bathing rooms ) is just in front of the entrance to the Garmkhaneh . Going up a few stairs, you could easily enter Khazineh which used to be full of water .
On two sides of Khazineh, there are two rooms called KHALVAT ( Solitude rooms ) .
These rooms were for especial people .
Chalhoze is a long vast space beside Garmkhaneh, which was built 1127 AH . This rooms is covered with quite big ceilings, which are on eight stone made pillars . A large pool is inside this space which was used as a swimming pool . On two, eastern and western, sides of the pool there are two rooms called SHAHNESHIN
One of these rooms was used for diving and the other for watching .
The small bathhouse is also a place with geometrical bases . The Sarbineh in this bath has a square base .
There are some other platforms on three sides of this square . The central dome of this Sarbineh is one four
Stone made pillars . Garmkhaneh of the small bath has octahedral and half octahedral base and it is on eight stone made pillars . There are some ceiling windows too, which use to provide the bath with enough light . Beside the bathhouse, there is a corridor which connects to a well at the end . This well used to provide water for the bath . Workers used to bring the water up from this well by using a cow .
